Our Core Values and Approach

You grow, We grow
Business law requires you to be a specialist in particular fields. We help you determine where you thrive early in your career and encourage all our lawyers to take part in industry-related areas like academia and professional associations to grow their knowledge, expertise and network.

International Scope
Schellenberg Wittmer regularly supports clients in complex cross-border deals and multi-jurisdictional disputes. With offices in Zurich, Geneva and Singapore, we are known for our strong international reach and network. Most of our team members have an international background, and many are qualified in foreign jurisdictions.

Whether you are a student trainee, trainee lawyer or associate, you will work closely with our clients’ multinational companies and counsel from global firms, helping you gain varied and multicultural work experience.

Team Approach
Teamwork is the ability to work towards a common vision and provide excellence to our clients. At Schellenberg Wittmer, our multidisciplinary and cross-functional teams take a collaborative approach within the legal function and beyond to best serve our clients’ individual needs competently, efficiently, and successfully.

Work-Life Balance
Life at a top-tier law firm can mean long hours and a demanding workload. We know that preserving our team's wellbeing and energy levels helps us to provide a consistent high-quality service for our clients. We place great importance on cultivating a company culture and service approach that encourages a healthy work-life balance through initiatives such as flexible working hours, remote working and part-time schedules.

What We Offer You

A Place to Thrive
We offer an opportunity to grow, thrive and be challenged. We are among a few Swiss law firms where you can work on some of the most exciting and complex international deals and disputes.

Top-Tier Legal Expertise and Experience
At Schellenberg Wittmer, you will receive on-the-job training from leading experts in their field and have direct contact with clients and co-counsel in other law firms, both in Switzerland and around the world. Through regular practice team meetings and workshops, you will learn from peers and be kept informed of the latest legal developments. You will work in a specialized practice team with several partners allowing you to observe a range of different approaches and working styles. We also run regular in-house Master Classes, where you will receive firm-wide training to improve your interpersonal and advocacy skills.

Career and Personal Development
You grow, we grow, so together, we will discuss your strengths, specializations and areas where we need to support your development and growth.

Structured and Transparent Career Path
As a general rule, an Associate will be promoted to Senior Associate after three years. After four to five years as an Associate, we will discuss your eligibility for partnership. If successful, you will be put on the partner track. The partnership decision typically takes place after seven to eight years of working as an Associate. For highly specialized lawyers (or as a transition to partnership), we also offer Counsel positions.

A Positive and Inspiring Working Environment
We believe the best results are achieved by working in a friendly, relaxed and inspiring atmosphere. We frequently organize social events such as lunches, team sports, after-work drinks and team-building weekends to foster good relations and collaborative working practices among colleagues. Many of these close ties continue even after colleagues have left the firm, as demonstrated by our highly active Alumni Network.

Interested to join our Team as an Associate?

Are you talented, qualified, and driven to be the best lawyer you can be?
Get in touch! We are always looking for talented individuals to join our growing team. We typically conduct two interviews for Associate positions. Two Partners will talk to you about the firm and its specialized practice groups in the first interview. During the second interview, you will meet a wider group of Partners and have a one-on-one meeting with an Associate to find out more about life and work at Schellenberg Wittmer.
