Schellenberg Wittmer was awarded "Boutique/Regional Investigations Practice of the Year" at the Global Investigations Review (GIR) Awards ceremony, held on 14 November at the Four Seasons Hotel in Washington, DC.
This recognition highlights the firm’s exceptional work in investigations over the past years, with GIR specifically acknowledging two major foreign bribery cases:
"The Boutique or Regional Investigations Practice of the Year award was handed to Schellenberg Wittmer for handling the Swiss portions of two major foreign bribery cases. The firm acted for mining company Glencore in a $152 million settlement in August over allegations that the company bribed public officials in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Schellenberg Wittmer also represented commodities trading company Gunvor in a $98 million settlement with Swiss prosecutors in March which was part of a $660 million coordinated resolution with the DOJ to resolve allegations the company failed to prevent its employees from bribing Ecuadorian officials."
