The role of attribution science in climate litigation against companies

Attribution science is a relatively new field of research which seeks to establish a link between human-induced climate change and its impact on human or natural systems.

In this report, we explore the role of attribution science in civil liability actions against companies – particularly in relation to the plaintiffs' burden of establishing causation in light of the current standards of evidence under various national laws.
