Quentin Chadanian is an Associate in Schellenberg Wittmer's International Arbitration Group, where he focuses on cross-border commercial arbitration, investment arbitration, and sports arbitration proceedings, both ad hoc and institutional (Swiss Arbitration Centre, ICC, ICSID, UNCITRAL, SCC, and CAS). He has experience in complex, high-value disputes in the construction, energy, and commodities sectors, and has served as arbitral secretary in several commercial arbitrations conducted under the Swiss Rules, the ICC Rules and the SCC Rules, with particular focus on construction disputes.

He also has substantial experience representing clients before the Swiss Federal Tribunal in annulment proceedings and before French courts in both commercial disputes and annulment proceedings.

Quentin is a lecturer in international arbitration at Université Savoie Mont Blanc and has published in the ASA Bulletin and Thomson Reuters – Practical Law. He is admitted to the Paris Bar and is registered as a foreign lawyer at the Geneva Bar.

He holds an LL.M. in International Dispute Settlement (MIDS, University of Geneva / IHEID).

  • Representation of a global energy company in a USD 20 million ICC arbitration against a construction consortium arising from the construction of a solar power plant in Africa (Swiss law, Paris seat)
  • Representation of a claimant in a EUR 21 million ICC arbitration concerning operation and maintenance obligations under a wind turbine services contract (Turkish law, Geneva seat)
  • Appointment as arbitral secretary in a USD 150 million ICC construction arbitration over a subcontract for an immersed tunnel and port infrastructure in Iraq (Swiss law, Geneva seat)
  • Appointment as arbitral secretary in a EUR 130 million SCC arbitration between two Finnish companies over delivery contracts for the construction of a large-scale bioproduct mill (Finnish law, Stockholm seat)

Commodities & trading

  • Representation of an entity in a USD 25 million ICC arbitration against a commodity trading company over the alleged misappropriation of 50,000 metric tons of commodities (Swiss law, Geneva seat)
  • Representation of an entity in a USD 13 million ICC arbitration over alleged deficiencies in inspection services for gold concentrate cargoes (Swiss law, Geneva seat)

Joint ventures & commercial

  • Representation of a salt production and distribution company in a USD 85 million ICC arbitration against its joint venture partner over failure to transfer know-how and export volumes (Swiss law, Zurich seat)
  • Appointment as arbitral secretary in a USD 31 million Swiss Rules commercial arbitration over a cooperation agreement for the supply of fuel markers and petroleum product marking services (Swiss law, Geneva seat)

Investment arbitration

  • Representation of a private individual in a EUR 400 million+ UNCITRAL investor-State arbitration against an African state

Sports & anti-doping

  • Representation of a professional athlete in Swiss Federal Supreme Court set-aside proceedings against a CAS anti-doping award
