Schellenberg Wittmer celebrates Singapore

Singapore celebrates its National Day on August 9th and Schellenberg Wittmer wishes all its clients, business partners and team members in Singapore a fabulous celebration.

2023 marks a special year for us, as it is the 10th anniversary of our presence in Singapore. Back in 2013, Partner Philippe Borens opened the office and laid the foundation for a thriving business. "When we started up, our objective was to establish a presence within the region as the major Swiss law firm. Looking back, I am extremely proud of what we have created", Philippe says on celebrating the 10th anniversary.

Partner Christopher Boog took over as Managing Director of our Singapore office upon Philippe‘s return to Switzerland in 2016. Under Christopher's leadership, the office grew to become the firm’s hub for international arbitration in Singapore and other markets in the Asia-Pacific region, in addition to assisting clients with inbound and outbound investments. "The office in Singapore is our gateway to various markets in Asia. It allows us to be closer to our clients in the region and sets us apart from many of our competitors", Christopher highlights. Christopher handed over the role as Managing Director to Partner Julie Raneda at the beginning of 2023 whilst remaining based in Singapore.

Julie has been part of the team in Singapore for the past seven years and knows the region well. Julie remarks, "Singapore and Switzerland have much in common and a longstanding relationship. It is wonderful to advise our clients on both sides of the world and help them reinforce those ties. Thanks to our continuous presence, we managed to position the firm as a trustworthy partner for cross-border work and international arbitration matters in Singapore and the region." Julie was elected Chair of the Swiss Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SwissCham Singapore) in 2023. She is the first female taking on the role. As Schellenberg Wittmer Partner, she will continue positioning our firm in the Asia-pacific region, while focusing on promoting Swiss businesses in Singapore and strengthening the links between the Swiss and Singaporean economies through SwissCham.

Schellenberg Wittmer would like to thank all our clients, business partners, and team members for the successful collaboration over the past 10 years. We are looking forward to the future with you. To mark this milestone, the 10th anniversary will be celebrated with clients and business partners at a celebration in Singapore on 7 September 2023.
